Michael Matheson appointed Cabinet Secretary for Health
Michael Matheson has been appointed Cabinet Secretary for NHS Recovery, Health and Social Care.
Humza Yousaf, the newly elected leader of the SNP and First Minister, has unveiled his Cabinet, highlighting that five are aged under 40 and, for the first time, a majority are women.
Mr Yousaf commented: “The Cabinet team I have unveiled reflects the priorities that we will pursue as a Government – including tackling child poverty, improving public services and building a fairer, greener economy.”
Mr Matheson will be under pressure to bring to fruition the current process of reforming NHS dentistry pay after a ‘pay reform showcase’ was paused during the SNP leadership election contest.
