Procurement scheme passes key milestone

Denpro, the NHS Scotland-run procurement scheme has passed a key milestone after it was confirmed that more than 100 practices have signed up to take part so far.

However, despite reaching its minimum target, NHS National Services for Scotland director of dentistry Paul Cushley is encouraging more practices to join the new scheme to ensure a better deal for all involved.

He said: “The good news is that we have now recruited more than 100 NHS-committed practices to the process but membership is still open to practices that are more than 80 per cent NHS committed as defined by the practice’s GP234 return to PSD.

“We are still hoping to attract many more practices because the savings achievable will be proportionate to the size of our NHS buying group. So I am hoping that the momentum achieved so far may help to persuade other practices of the benefit of membership.”
