Dental team completes London to Paris cycle challenge
Raising money for Scotland’s Charity Air Ambulance and Dyslexia Scotland
Two dental professionals have completed a London to Paris cycling challenge raising more than £6,500 for charity.
Suzanne Ord and Karen Smart of SMile Hygiene in Comrie successfully completed the cycle in just 24 hours, raising the money for two charities close to their hearts; Scotland’s Charity Air Ambulance and Dyslexia Scotland.
The pair, who provide the mobile dental hygiene service covering north-east Scotland, took on the endurance event despite only starting cycling around 18 months ago.
Joining more than 80 riders, Suzanne and Karen set off from Blackheath on Saturday, May 2 and arrived in Paris late afternoon on Sunday, May 3 after completing the demanding route across England and France.
Suzanne told Grampian Online: “Taking on London to Paris in 24 hours was something completely outside our comfort zone.
“We came into this as novice cyclists, so it was both physically and mentally challenging, but knowing we were raising money for two incredible charities kept us going every mile of the journey.”
