Former cinema to be converted into dental practice
It will also serve as the administrative headquarters of a series of practices
Plans to turn a dilapidated former cinema in Dunfermline into a dental practice have been approved by Fife Council.
The former Robins Cinema closed in 2000 and has had a number of different uses since. As well as becoming the site of a new practice, it will also serve as the administrative headquarters of a series of practices run throughout Scotland by Dr Osama Mochli.
Permission for a change of use was granted at the end of April, under the condition that development begins within no more than three years.
A statement from the local authority said: “The proposal would bring this vacant historic building back into use and the alterations would enhance the character and setting of the category B listed building and the surrounding conservation area.”
The ground floor will host the main public areas, including a reception and waiting area, together with three surgeries, staff facilities, an accessible toilet, and storage.
The first floor will provide additional surgeries alongside a dedicated waiting room, further toilet provision, and space for clinical waste storage.
On the second floor there is to be room for training, changing facilities, dental laboratories, stock rooms and staff amenity areas, whilst the third floor will consist of a number of office spaces.
