The second Canmore Trust Wellbeing Conference is being held at the Radisson Blu Hotel, Glasgow, on Friday 8 and Saturday 9 November.

The conference will bring together doctors, nurses, veterinary surgeons and dentists – as members of the healthcare professions with the highest rates of suicide – to offer mutual support, to encourage wellbeing, and to find common paths towards hope and suicide prevention.

John Gibson, CEO of The Canmore Trust, will welcome delegates and set the scene. They will hear from a range of speakers over the two days. On the Friday evening there is also a fundraising dinner.

Among the speakers are Professor Rory O’Connor, Professor of Health Psychology at the University of Glasgow, who will present Learning to learn: lessons from the global suicide community. The conference will also hear from representatives of the dental, veterinary, medical and nursing professions, and from representatives of the regulators.

Other speakers include Alice Hendy MBE, CEO of R;pple Suicide Prevention and Fiona Drouet MBE, CEO of EmilyTest, who will deliver The Jamie Newlands Memorial Lecture: Loss into Legacy.

Speakers on Saturday include Richard McCann, the Sunday Times best-selling author, Haylis Smith, the Suicide Prevention National Delivery Lead for Scotland, and Dr Jess Morgan, Clinical Fellow, the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health.

Delegates will have the opportunity to attend a session on stress and anxiety management hosted by Dr Mike Gow, anxiety coach. A question and answer session will be hosted Roz McMullan, past-president of the British Dental Association and mental health campaigner, followed by a summation and look forward from John Gibson.
